Moscow prepares to become centre of international film production

Shooting of new projects will continue in 2025

In 2025, the Russian capital will become a platform for shooting international films. Teams from Brazil, Thailand, Egypt, and Cameroon are already preparing for them. Moscow has allocated over a thousand hectares of land for the construction of new film sets. These are cities from westerns, backwoods villages, and famous streets of the Russian capital from the 1940s to the present day. In addition, the creators of international film projects will be able to reimburse up to 30 per cent of their shooting costs.

Hany Abu Al-Hassan Abdel Hamid Ahmed, Advisor to the Chairman for International Cooperation, Egyptian Creative Media Cluster, told TV BRICS that Egypt has 30 years of experience in making films, and now joint projects with Moscow will contribute to the development of quality cinema.

In addition, Yury Yarushnikov, Co-founder of the Virtual Production Studio, spoke about the prospects of creating joint projects with the Indians.

“We have been talking to our Indian colleagues, and they are just now thinking about moving two big projects from Bollywood to Moscow. These are projects involving famous Indian stars,” he informed.

The effectiveness of international cooperation in the field of cinema is confirmed by the successful experience of cooperation between Russia and China. The joint film “Red Silk” has already proved itself in the two markets, having collected more than 500 million rubles. The two countries are also considering a large-scale film production and co-operation agreement with Brazil, Cuba, Vietnam, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa, and Serbia.
