Myanmar and Nicaragua hope to obtain observer status in EAEU



The representatives of the two countries expressed their readiness to deepen cooperation with the union in the field of trade and investment

Myanmar and Nicaragua have announced their intention to obtain observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union and strengthen cooperation with its member countries. This was reported by representatives of both countries at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk, according to a
BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.

Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing emphasised that the country is interested in deepening cooperation with the EAEU: “Myanmar is deeply interested in the activities and initiatives of the EAEU and intends to expand cooperation with member states in the field of economics and trade […] We ask for support for Myanmar’s desire to obtain observer status.”

Advisor to Nicaraguan President on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation Laureano Ortega Murillo, said that Nicaragua had already submitted an official request for observer status in the EAEU. “This is a key objective for us. We are ready to complete all the necessary procedures. We are already actively working with Russia and Belarus on major projects in medicine, pharmaceuticals, equipment supplies,” he said.

Both representatives emphasised that cooperation with the EAEU will enable their countries to strengthen economic ties and promote the formation of a more equitable and mutually beneficial system of international relations.

The IV Eurasian Economic Forum is being held in Minsk, timed to coincide with the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council with the participation of the Heads of state of the EAEU.
