New Year BRICS+ festival highlights importance and achievements of youth entrepreneurship

The New Year Cultural Bridges Festival was held at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), bringing participants together under the theme “Youth entrepreneurship and innovation in the BRICS+ space”.

The festival brought together students of the Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service (IPACS) of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), as well as Russian and international experts. Speakers at the festival’s key event included representatives of the business communities of Nigeria, the Philippines, Egypt, Iran, Indonesia, and Russia.

During the meeting, they discussed best practices in youth entrepreneurship in the BRICS+ countries in the fields of energy technologies, green energy, digitalisation, and the creative industries, and outlined pathways for business cooperation.

“It is young innovators and entrepreneurs who will have to respond to the challenges of tomorrow, shape the contours of a common economy in the future and define the BRICS agenda,” said the session moderator, Member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Elena Galibina, emphasising the importance of the topic.

She noted that the outcomes of the session could become start-ups tomorrow and, the day after, successful transnational companies strengthening economic sovereignty.

Vice-President of the World Association of New Media Ayed Mohsen Ayed Ouda of Egypt proposed the creation of a unified educational system and mutual recognition of diplomas between countries. In his view, this would strengthen ties within BRICS.

Expert of the Russian Academy of Sciences and member of the interdepartmental working group of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Lyudmila Varfolomeeva focused on breakthrough technologies that preserve the environment.

Lubarto Sartoyo, President of the Alliance of Business Structures and Entrepreneurs of Southeast Asian Countries, devoted his speech to an analysis of business, trade and cultural ties between Russia and Indonesia.

The discussion participants also addressed the role of youth in the development of innovation ecosystems in the BRICS+ countries, practical aspects of business cooperation, the search for partners and entry into new markets of the group’s countries, as well as the creation of new professional links between future regional studies specialists, young entrepreneurs and experts.
