Participants of the 3rd BRICS Postgraduate Forum in Brazil discuss the development strategies of the countries of the Global South

Representatives of the academic environment from 29 countries exchanged views on the innovation process

The University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and South Africa’s Durban University of Technology (DUT), a partner of TV BRICS, organised the 3rd BRICS Postgraduate Forum during the event of the Sao Paulo Innovation Systems, Strategies, and Policies. It was attended by 100 representatives of the academic environment from 29 countries, including the member states. TV BRICS is the information partner for the event.

The event began with plenary lectures. At the next stage, the participants switched between two specialised areas, one of which was devoted to innovation and the other to the development of the Global South. At the 3rd BRICS Postgraduate Forum, graduate students from different countries presented their research. The school successfully combined academic rigour with practical seminars, facilitating discussions about technology and innovative economic development strategies.

This event not only provided a platform for networking but also highlighted the importance of global cooperation in addressing the challenges of technological progress and economic development in the countries of the Global South. A highlight of the programme was a visit to the National Centre for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM).

This state-of-the-art facility houses four national laboratories and houses Sirius, one of the most advanced synchrotron light sources in the world. The participants got acquainted with innovative projects and a globally competitive research infrastructure. The event ended with a gala dinner and an award ceremony for students. The final speech was delivered by the sponsors and the organising team, including Professor Bruno De Conti from the University of Campinas.
