Prabowo Subianto: Indonesia to join New Development Bank

This partnership opens up new opportunities for cooperation and investment

On 25 March 2025, a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta brought together Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank (NDB), and Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia.

The discussions resulted in Indonesia’s possible accession to the NDB, a new step in promoting South-South cooperation and regional development, according to the
official website of the New Development Bank.

Indonesia’s development frameworks, including the Development Strategy 2025–2045 and the National Medium-Term Development Plan 2025–2029, were central to the discussions.

Shared priorities include enhancing infrastructure such as railways, roads, ports, and airports, alongside expanding digital connectivity and advancing sustainable energy solutions, particularly renewable energy.

According to experts, this partnership signals a transformative era for Indonesia, opening up significant opportunities for cooperation and investment under the NDB’s vision for sustainable development and economic modernisation.
