Putin notes high level of relations between Russia and Tajikistan

Vladimir Putin holds talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in the Kremlin

The countries attach great importance to the expansion of interregional co-operation. More than 70 regions of Russia maintain direct business contacts with the regions of Tajikistan, including Moscow, St Petersburg, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Astrakhan, Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk. This is reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

The issues of expanding co-operation in the field of investment were discussed. As a result, it was decided to launch major investment projects in various sectors of the economy. To achieve this goal, a favourable investment climate has been created in Tajikistan, and several free economic zones are functioning.

The peoples have general cultural and humanitarian ties. The Days of Russian Culture in Tajikistan were successfully held in July, and the Days of Russian Cinema were held in October.

The Russian-Tajik intergovernmental commission works smoothly, and its next meeting is scheduled for December in Moscow, Putin said.

Putin added that supplies of goods from Tajikistan to Russia have increased sharply. “First of all, this is the agricultural production sector, where the growth was 67 per cent,” he noted.
