Ramaphosa sworn in for second full term as President

The inauguration was attended by heads of state and government from 18 countries

Cyril Ramaphosa has taken the oath of office and entered his five-year term as President of South Africa. The ceremony, which took place in Pretoria, one of the country’s capitals, was broadcast by state media group
SABC News.

According to the
Presidency, around countries represented at the inauguration included Eswatini, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Tanzania, Uganda, China, Egypt and Cuba.

On 14 June, Ramaphosa was re-elected as Head of State by a majority of members of the lower house of the national parliament, the National Assembly. 

Ramaphosa is expected to announce the composition of a national unity government in the coming days, which will be based on a ruling majority of at least five parties in the National Assembly.
