This will be the first time the championship will be held in Latin America

For the first time in the history of South America, Brazil will host the World Table Tennis Championships. Rio de Janeiro has been chosen by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) as the host city for the 2029 tournament. This is reported by

Prior to the vote, delegates watched a special presentation on the city and culture of the city. Rio de Janeiro’s Mayor Eduardo Paes, Brazilian Olympic Committee President Marco La Porta and Brazilian table tennis player Hugo Calderano personally presented the city’s bid, demonstrating the city’s rich culture and willingness to host the world championships at the highest level.

“It will happen in our beautiful Olympic city. We thank the ITTF for their trust and promise to host an unforgettable tournament,” said Alaor Azevedo, ITTF Vice President.
