Russia’s Deputy Minister of Culture Andrey Malyshev and Cuba’s Deputy Minister of Culture Lizette Martinez Luzardo agreed to develop bilateral exchanges in the fields of culture and sport. During the 12th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum, a meeting was held of the working group on culture and sport of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, according to the Russian Ministry of Culture’s website.
The parties signed the minutes of the working group’s meeting, which confirmed the previously identified potential for the further development of bilateral exchanges. In particular, representatives of the two countries are exploring opportunities to develop Russian-Cuban inter-museum exchanges, including between the State Russian Museum and the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, which hosts a virtual branch of the State Russian Museum.
In addition, the working group plans to expand the exchange of archival films between the Gosfilmofond State Film Archive and the Cuban Institute on Cinematographic Arts and Industry, as well as to develop cooperation in the field of animation.
Dialogue in the field of creative education will continue: projects are to be implemented between relevant educational institutions in both countries, and the participation of Cuban students in educational programmes at Russia’s creative universities is to be expanded.
