
Russia has secured a victory at the 3rd CIS Games, topping the medal table both in golds and overall awards. The Russian team claimed 231 medals in total, including 130 gold, 58 silver, and 43 bronze. This is reported by the
official website of the Russian Government.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev commended the team’s results, noting that the achievement reflects Russia’s long-standing sporting traditions.
“As President Vladimir Putin said, our country has always been and remains one of the world’s leading sporting powers, the birthplace of great athletes, victories and records. The brilliant performance of Russian athletes at the 3rd CIS Games fully proves these words. Russia became the absolute champion both in gold medals and in total awards. I congratulate the national team on this exceptional success and wish them new victories,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The Russian delegation consisted of 249 athletes, who competed under the national flag and anthem across 20 sports disciplines. Russian athletes claimed every gold medal in rhythmic gymnastics, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, and 3×3 basketball.
The tournament gathered participants from CIS member states as well as Cuba, Kuwait, and Oman.
For the first time in the Games’ history, competitions included Chovgan, the traditional equestrian game of the South Caucasus, and international archery tournaments.
