Russia strengthens diplomatic ties with Africa through new foreign ministry department

The initiative to optimise decision-making processes and project execution

Diplomatic relations between Russia and Africa are expanding significantly, as highlighted during a recent meeting between Ethiopian Ambassador Genet Teshome Jirru and Tatyana Dovgalenko, Director of the Department for Partnership with Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Dovgalenko emphasised that the creation of the department demonstrates Russia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with African nations, regional economic communities, and the African Union. The initiative aims to enhance multilateral engagement, improve efficiency, and foster deeper diplomatic and economic ties across the continent.

Ambassador Genet Teshome welcomed the establishment of the department, expressing confidence that it will facilitate stronger collaboration and enhance strategic partnerships between Russia and African nations. He underscored the importance of drawing insights from other international alliances to optimise decision-making processes and project execution, ensuring that bilateral agreements translate into concrete developments.
