The forum, will bring together business representatives focused on the markets of the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. TV BRICS is the media partner of the event.
In 2025, the organisers plan to expand the geography of participants by inviting delegations from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Arabian Peninsula states and East Africa. The focus will be on issues related to activities in the region and new tools to support business along the North-South international transport corridor.
The forum programme includes discussions on investment opportunities in infrastructure and logistics, B2B meetings to establish partnerships, an exchange for export and import offers, seminars and master classes taking into account the latest changes in legislation, and business practices.
Ilya Volynsky, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan Region, noted in an interview with TV BRICS that today the North-South International Transport Corridor is seen as a secure economic route to the Persian Gulf countries, India and Africa for the export of domestic products, as well as for the prompt processing of imports needed by Russia. According to him, the Astrakhan Region is becoming an important transit centre for trade: in 2024, cargo turnover through Astrakhan ports amounted to 6.1 million tonnes, which is 37 per cent more than a year earlier.
“We haven’t seen numbers like this in over 10 years,” he said.
One of the forum’s organisers, Aleksander Sharov, told TV BRICS that the event in Astrakhan will bring together business, logistics and government reps to talk about specific projects and sign agreements. He added that translation into Farsi, English, and Arabic will be provided at the meetings, which will create comfortable conditions for dialogue and the conclusion of deals.
