A “Russian Seasons” gala concert was held in Bishkek, becoming one of the central events of the Days of Russian Culture in Kyrgyzstan. Soloists of the Bolshoi, Mariinsky, and Mikhailovsky Theatres performed on the stage of the Abdylas Maldybayev Kyrgyz National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The audience saw excerpts from “Scheherazade”, “Giselle” and “The Nutcracker”. The concert featured Russian prima ballerinas Oksana Skorik and Irina Perren, as well as other leading artists. A national flavour was added to the programme by the pas de deux from the Kyrgyz ballet “Cholpon”, performed by Dayana Kydyralieva and Adilzhan Rakhmanov.
The musical accompaniment was provided by the Symphony Orchestra of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office. The artistic director of the evening was choreographer Marat Shemiunov. According to the project’s producer, Elena Stravinskaya, the participation of artists from the top three Russian theatres highlights the significance of the cultural event.
“For the tour in Bishkek, we invited the finest masters of classical dance from the top three Russian opera and ballet theatres. We believe that the audience in Bishkek will appreciate the timeless repertoire of Russian ballet classics,” noted Elena Stravinskaya.
The audience, which included students of choreographic schools, families with children and representatives of creative professions, warmly received the performances by Russian and Kyrgyz artists. Tickets for the evening had sold out in advance.
“Russian Seasons” is an international project of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of Russia aimed at presenting Russian culture abroad. The programme includes concerts, theatrical productions, exhibitions, film screenings, lectures, and masterclasses.
The initiative continues the traditions of Sergey Diaghilev, who promoted Russian art in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. The symbol of the project is the Firebird – an image of light, luck, and creative renewal.
The project is implemented with the participation of the ANO “Russian Seasons” and is carried out with the international information support of the TV BRICS International Media Network.
