The Russian Seasons project, which introduces international audiences to the richness of Russian culture, presented its autumn programme in Thailand. Its main events included ballets by Boris Eifman, an exhibition by the State Russian Museum and a production by the Bolshoi Puppet Theatre of Saint Petersburg. TV BRICS is the international media partner of the project.
Bolshoi Puppet Theatre director Ekaterina Lozhkina-Belevich presented the production “I’m with You!” in Bangkok, exploring the nature of friendship. The performances were accompanied by an educational programme for professionals and enthusiasts. Theatre artists held a two-day puppet manipulation training course and delivered lectures on the history of puppet theatre for audiences of different ages.
The State Russian Museum introduced Thai audiences to costume and set designs for theatrical productions at the unique exhibition Russian Seasons. The exhibition also featured portraits of those who created the celebrated productions of Sergey Diaghilev. The opening was preceded by a lecture devoted to one of the most vivid chapters in Russian artistic culture of the first quarter of the 20th century and its key figures.
Two ballets by Boris Eifman (“The Pygmalion Effect” and “Russian Hamlet”) were staged at the Thailand Cultural Centre, closing the 28th Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance and Music.
“The theatre, as one of the most active participants in Russia’s cultural diplomacy, is sincerely pleased to join this large-scale and prestigious event [the Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance and Music]. I am also grateful to the international Russian Seasons project, under which the tour is taking place, for its important contribution to promoting our country’s high art on the world stage,” said Boris Eifman, the Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre.
The Russian Seasons project is the flagship international project of the Government of Russia and the Ministry of Culture of Russia. It is running in Thailand throughout 2026 and will conclude in November.
