What are your expectations of the upcoming G20 summit and Russia’s participation in it? What is the business community focusing on in the G20 agenda?

The upcoming G20 summit in New Delhi holds great significance for both India and the international community. As the President of the Indian Business Alliance, my expectation for the event is to see fruitful discussions and collaborations that address pressing global challenges. I believe Russia’s participation in the G20 is crucial in fostering dialogue and cooperation among nations.

From the perspective of the business community, we are paying close attention to several key areas on the G20 agenda. These include promoting sustainable economic growth, addressing climate change and environmental issues, enhancing digitalization and innovation, and strengthening international trade. These are all critical factors for the business community’s prosperity and the overall wellbeing of societies worldwide.

To what extent is the dialogue between the international business community and the G20 leaders really established today?

The dialogue between the international business community and the G20 leaders has significantly improved over the years. There is now a recognised understanding that the private sector has a vital role to play in addressing global challenges and driving economic growth. The G20 has made efforts to establish platforms such as the Business 20 Summit, where business leaders can directly communicate their ideas, concerns, and recommendations to the G20 leaders. This dialogue between the business community and the G20 leaders enables more effective policymaking that aligns with the needs of the business sector and society as a whole.

How can the BRICS enlargement affect the agenda and the development of the G20?

The BRICS countries, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, have emerged as major global players with significant economic influence. In the context of the G20, the positions of the BRICS countries have gained prominence, reflecting the collective voice of these powerful economies.

The BRICS enlargement has the potential to greatly impact the agenda and development of the G20. As these countries continue to strengthen their cooperation and collaboration, their common interests and priorities are being effectively communicated within the G20 framework. The expanded BRICS bloc brings forth diverse perspectives and innovative ideas, enriching the discussions and enhancing the G20’s ability to address global challenges comprehensively.

The BRICS enlargement also serves as a reminder of the shifting dynamics in the global economy, and the G20 recognises the significance of including these influential nations in shaping policies that foster sustainable and inclusive growth.
