Sao Paulo expects 520,000 tourists from June to August
The June festivals are expected to boost tourism throughout the state of Sao Paulo between June and August. According to the Centre for Tourism Economics Analysis, part of the Sao Paulo State Secretariat for Tourism and Travel, around 520,000 tourists are expected to attend the festivals.
The projected number exceeds last year’s figures and is estimated to generate around 389 million reais. Hotel occupancy during the season averages 64 per cent. This is reported by
Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.
The survey also shows that 97 per cent of municipalities in Sao Paulo see these holidays as a way to preserve and celebrate local culture. In addition, 88 per cent of cities expect to welcome visitors from other regions, which will have a positive impact on local commerce, restaurants, hotels and intercity transport.
“The Festas Juninas festivals are a reflection of our cultural identity. They strengthen ties between communities and stimulate domestic tourism,” said Roberto de Lucena, Sao Paulo’s Secretary of Tourism and Travel.
