Saudi Arabia reports record growth in tourism spending in first quarter of 2025
Total spending by visitors reached approximately 13.338 billion dollars
Saudi Arabia has recorded a historic 9.7% rise in spending by foreign visitors during the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, according to the
Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Official data shows that total expenditure by these visitors reached approximately 49.4 billion Saudi riyals (around US$13.34 billion), generating a travel account surplus of 26.8 billion riyals (about US 7.24 billion dollars), an increase of 11.7% year-on-year.
The Saudi Ministry of Tourism attributed this notable growth to coordinated efforts across its departments and the broader tourism ecosystem, aimed at enhancing the sector and strengthening its contribution to the national economy. This progress reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing tourism development in line with its Vision 2030 strategy.
The Ministry emphasised that improved tourism services, the adoption of innovative practices, and ongoing collaboration with government bodies have been crucial in establishing Saudi Arabia as a global leader in tourism.
