SCO countries discuss the possibility of uniting constellations of the Earth remote sensing satellites
The Digital Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), organised by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, opened in Almaty. This year, the SCO is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the opening of the organisation’s secretariat.
Bagdat Mussin, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, in his welcoming speech to the participants of the event recalled that the idea of holding the SCO Digital Forum was put forward by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This happened during the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states, held on 4 July 2023.
The minister suggested that the SCO member states unite their constellations of Earth remote sensing satellites.
According to him, such a solution, which opens up the possibility of imaging a certain point at any time of the day, gives an advantage in the use of these technologies. Musin emphasised that each state wants to receive photos of the Earth at certain geo-coordinates on request in order to apply them later in the necessary sector of the economic industry.
The work of the forum will last until 3 February. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
