Students from a polytechnic college in Arkhangelsk have unveiled an experimental smart training pen designed to improve handwriting quality and make writing more comfortable.
Created within an educational research programme, the device has already sparked interest among specialists due to its focus on personalised learning and user adaptability. This is
reported in the official social network of the governor of the Arkhangelsk region, Aleksander Tsybulskiy.
The pen functions as an intelligent tutor: it monitors hand movements, adjusts writing trajectory and suggests ways to achieve cleaner, more consistent lines. It also generates tailor-made exercises, gradually adapting to the user’s individual handwriting habits and fine motor skills.
Developers placed particular emphasis on ergonomics, ensuring the pen reduces strain on the hand – a feature especially valuable for school pupils and professionals who write frequently.
The team’s ambitions extend far beyond the prototype stage. Future upgrades include vibration alerts for mistakes, a miniature display, voice-activated controls and real-time handwriting analysis. The young developers plan to move from concept to full testing of the device next year.
