South African airport to waive landing fees for chartered artists during festive season

Airport in Polokwane, South Africa, is set to strengthen the festive season with a new incentive designed to support performing artists and stimulate cultural tourism. From 21 December 2025 to 3 January 2026, artists travelling by private charter will be eligible for free landing fees and selected aeronautical services, as reported by
IOL.

The initiative seeks to encourage high-profile performances and cultural events during the holiday period, reinforcing the province’s position as a destination for entertainment and celebrations. Airport authorities say the measure recognises the contribution artists make to the local economy, particularly during peak travel and tourism seasons.

Under the scheme, qualifying performers will benefit from waived landing charges, as well as complimentary aircraft parking and other essential airport support services. Eligibility is subject to the submission of verifiable proof of confirmed festive-season bookings and arrival by privately owned or chartered aircraft.

Officials emphasised that reducing operational costs for artists is intended to create a vibrant festive atmosphere while increasing visitor numbers and local economic activity.

The initiative reflects a broader effort to celebrate creativity, support the arts sector and bring communities together through cultural experiences at one of the busiest times of the year.
