South Africa’s Gauteng province’s government outlines preparations for G20 summit
South Africa’s Gauteng province is already hosting the G20 working meetings and is ready to host the association’s summit in Johannesburg. This was stated by Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, a member of the Executive Council for Agriculture and Rural Development in Gauteng Province, according to
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
“The G20 will be a catalyst for sustainable job creation and economic growth in the province, South Africa and the African continent. We will use the G20 to showcase the tourism and hospitality, the culture of inclusivity, and Ubuntu (humanity). We will use the G20 to end hunger, inequality and drive sustainable growth,” she said.
Ramokgopa added that the authorities are actively engaging with civil society, business, youth and people with disabilities to ensure that no one is left behind during the G20 summit.
Asharf Patel, a Senior Researcher with the think tank Institute for Global Dialogue, stressed that the upcoming G20 meeting in Johannesburg has generated a lot of interest among citizens of the member states. According to him, more than 800 talking points have been received from G20 think tanks for discussion at the summit.

According to the republic’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, the country’s main priorities for this period include strengthening support for states in the Global South, increasing access to development finance and adapting to climate change.
