The G20 Summit will serve as a strategic platform where the world’s largest economies can align policies capable of advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This assessment was provided by Alcides Eduardo dos Reis Peron, Professor at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Campinas, in an exclusive comment to TV BRICS.
The expert also emphasises that the meeting provides space for countries to pool efforts in discussion sessions focused on the allocation of strategic resources and the advancement of coordinated actions in key areas – from poverty reduction to the strengthening of energy transition and digital inclusion projects, as well as support for climate finance initiatives.
Alcides further draws attention to the importance of the summit in expanding cooperation among BRICS countries.
“This summit may help deepen cooperation in areas vital to the group, including technological innovation, a just energy transition, food security and the strengthening of global value chains,” he noted.
According to him, this moment creates favourable conditions for the group to advance its calls for reforms that ensure greater equity and effective participation in major international multilateral institutions, such as the United Nations and the international financial system.
Strengthening these groups is crucial to addressing the global challenges of the contemporary world. The expert emphasises that solutions require an international and comprehensive approach, guided by solidarity and sensitivity to the specific conditions of developing countries. In this context, coordination among BRICS countries within the G20 assumes a strategic role in formulating effective joint responses.
