The China Disabled Persons’ Federation organised a sports event

The event offered an opportunity to try different para-sports activities

More than 100 participants from more than 20 countries and international organisations attended an event organised by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, where they heard inspiring stories and took part in unique sports games. This was reported by
China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

“I am impressed by the level of investment that China is making in areas related to the lives of people with disabilities,” Justine Coulson, China representative of the UN Population Fund.

She argues for the need to build a society that allows people with all types of disabilities to move, work and play sports without hindrance.

Chen Qi, coach of China’s women’s wheelchair basketball team, believes sport can energise people with positivity, help them integrate into society and give new meaning to their lives.

“China has made great progress in building infrastructure for the disabled since the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing,” he added.

At the event, participants were invited to try out para-sports such as bocce, football for the blind, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair table tennis and wheelchair curling.
