The regions of the Volga Federal District show a strong interest in developing partnership with China
This was stated by Igor Komarov, Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Russian President in the Volga Federal District
In China, Nanchang (Jiangxi Province), the fourth Meeting of the Council on Interregional Cooperation of the Volga Federal District Regions and the Upper and Middle reaches of the Yangtze River was held.
The meeting was also attended by Zhang Guoqing, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
Russia and China have signed 114 co-operation agreements on trade, economic and humanitarian relations between their regions. About half of them were signed between the regions of the Volga Federal District and the provinces located in the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River. These agreements stimulate trade and educational co-operation.
In 2016, the countries held the first meeting of the Regional Cooperation Council in Ulyanovsk. Komarov said he hopes to strengthen co-operation between the Volga Federal District and Jiangxi in electronic products, automobiles, agriculture, healthcare and woodworking.
