The Russian President emphasised that in 2024 special attention will be paid to the BRICS association

Putin said it at the foreign ambassadors’ credentials presentation ceremony

During his speech at the credentials presentation ceremony, Vladimir Putin emphasised that in 2024 special attention will be paid to the BRICS association, which Russia will chair. This is reported by the

Putin noted that Russia will do everything possible to help new members of the association to join the organisation’s work:

“In general, we intend to contribute in every possible way to enhancing the role of the association in addressing topical issues on the global agenda, to make efforts to strengthen comprehensive strategic partnership within the BRICS framework”

In addition, Russia will work actively to increase the role of BRICS in addressing pressing global issues. Efforts will be made to develop a comprehensive strategic partnership within the BRICS framework, as well as to expand co-operation in economic, financial and other spheres. An important event will be preparations for the BRICS Summit to be held in Kazan in October 2024 with a new, expanded composition. And the BRICS Sports Games will be organised in Kazan in the summer.

During the event, the Russian president emphasised that Ethiopia is an important partner of Russia.

“The official visit of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to Russia in July was very fruitful and productive. During the visit, a number of intergovernmental agreements and commercial arrangements were concluded in the field of transport and logistics, communications and communications. Their implementation will undoubtedly contribute to the diversification of Russian-Ethiopian co-operation.”

Putin noted that from the very beginning Russia has supported Ethiopia’s application to join BRICS and will actively promote the effective inclusion of Ethiopian partners in all mechanisms of interaction of the association during its presidency in 2024.
