Thematic sub-forum takes place within the framework of the “One Belt, One Road” forum

The participants of the event discussed the development of the maritime sector of the economy

A thematic sub-forum on cooperation in the maritime sphere was held within the framework of the third forum of international cooperation “One Belt, One Road”. Following its results, the initiative on the development of cooperation in this area was announced.

It includes 10 aspects from the development of the maritime sector of the economy to the protection of marine biodiversity. The plan is in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and marks the commitment of the Belt and Road countries to strengthen cooperation in all areas along the 21st century Maritime Silk Road, as reported by CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.

“We should improve the mechanism of maritime cooperation under the “Belt and Road” to build the Maritime Silk Road community together,” said Liu Guozhong, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

“This is the first time our country is participating in this event, as we established diplomatic relations with China only four years ago. And it is very important for us to be able to come and understand how we can get involved in the process of building the “Belt and Road”, what agreements we can make,” emphasised Manasseh Maelanga, Deputy Prime Minister of Solomon Islands.
