The volume of border trade between residents of China and Russia in the city of Manzhouli has exceeded US$27.6 million since the beginning of 2025. This represents an increase of 432.5 per cent compared with the same period last year. The data were published on the official website of the city administration, reports
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
It is noted that such growth has been made possible thanks to a new model of cooperation. Local residents are forming special cooperatives to jointly purchase goods and find sales channels. Part of the imported goods is processed at local enterprises, which helps to develop the production chain and increase the population’s income.
According to statistics, to date, more than 26,000 residents of the border areas are directly involved in this trade and benefit from it.
The development of border trade serves as an example of the deepening economic ties between Russia and China. As previously stated by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation Maksim Oreshkin in an interview with
Xinhua News Agency, cooperation with China opens up vast opportunities.
