TV BRICS documentary about young Russian composers to be screened at international festival in Brazil

The first CineSonora International Music Documentary Film Festival is taking place in Florianopolis, Brazil. The programme includes a screening of the TV BRICS documentary “Partitura. Young Music of Russia”, created in collaboration with the Orpheus Russian State TV and Radio Music Centre, a partner of the international media network.

The film is based on the experience of holding the III All-Russian Competition of Young Composers “Partitura”’ – one of the largest professional creative competitions in the country, which aims to reflect the unifying role of art in the international cultural context, raise the prestige of the profession of composer and highlight Russia’s achievements in promoting new musical talent. The competition is held with the media support of TV BRICS.

The festival’s art director, journalist, director and producer of cultural projects Luciano Burin noted the contribution of Russian classical music to world culture, emphasising its enduring significance throughout the world.

“Documentary films about music are a fascinating way to tell a wide variety of stories through music and cinema. As this is an international festival, we strive for diversity in terms of themes and countries. It is very interesting that the programme includes a contemporary film about classical music from Russia, which is a benchmark in this musical genre,” he added.

The CineSonora Festival is non-competitive and presents both new and long-established audiovisual works from around the world. The festival programme includes the best Brazilian and foreign documentary films, including feature-length and short films, as well as music videos.

In addition to screenings, guests can look forward to creative meetings with directors and experts in the field of music and cinema. The event is organised with the support of the Santa Catarina state government and the Brazilian federal government.

“Partitura. Young Music of Russia” will be shown at the festival on Saturday, 20 September.
