The BRICS Sailing Championship took place on the waters of the Minsk Sea in Belarus. Eleven crews – comprising more than 50 athletes from India, Russia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan – took part in the competition. The TV BRICS International Media Network acted as the event’s international media partner.

Victory went to the crew led by Elvira Pinchuk. The team finished in the top three in every race and, by the end of the second day, had pulled ahead of their rivals by more than 10 points.
“The organisation was top-class. We were fully focused from day one – we had three first-place finishes every day. I’ve only been racing for two years, and conditions with winds of nearly 30 knots were only my second experience of this sort, but the team worked seamlessly together, and we managed it,” said Pinchuk.
According to Pavel Sozykin, a representative of the team that finished second, the status of the BRICS Championship speaks for itself, which is why this project has great prospects. The teams from India highlighted the valuable experience gained and their desire to improve their results in future races.

Daniil Odintsov, tactician for the crew that came third, noted that the races were very competitive. “Regattas like this contribute to the development of sailing as a whole on a global scale, and we hope to see more events of this kind,” he added.
Over the three days of racing, the judging panel conducted 12 races. Running in parallel was a business programme, where experts discussed the development of sailing in India – which holds the BRICS presidency in 2026 – the role of women in yachting, judging standards, and sailing as a platform for business networking.
The organisers emphasised that the event was aimed at expanding and strengthening international sporting ties. The regatta concluded with a grand awards ceremony.
