UAE airports serve more than 71 million passengers in the first half of 2024
The aviation industry thrives on investment and innovation
UAE airports handled more than 71 million passengers in the first half of 2024, an increase of 14.2 per cent over the same period last year. This is reported by
Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, the Director General of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, said that this growth is due to the UAE’s successful policies aimed at developing infrastructure, improving legislation, and fostering digital transformation in the aviation industry.
He also emphasised the significant role of national carriers, which have gained international recognition and competitiveness.
GCAA is actively developing cooperation with other countries by signing air transport agreements with most countries in the world, which allows for the expansion of air routes and increases passenger numbers.
In addition to passenger traffic, UAE airports are also seeing growth in cargo traffic, which totalled 2.16 million metric tonnes in the first half of the year.
