UAE to appoint AI as advisory member of cabinet in world-first move
The AI system will deliver strategic consultations, generate real-time knowledge reports, and conduct predictive modelling
The United Arab Emirates has announced a historic step in government innovation with the integration of artificial intelligence as an advisory member of the Cabinet, marking the first such initiative globally. This is reported by
Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
The announcement was made by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, confirmed that from January 2026, an AI-powered digital entity will participate in UAE Cabinet and Ministerial Development Council meetings, providing real-time data-driven insights and strategic analysis to support decision-making at the highest level of government.
According to the source, the integration of AI into national decision-making processes stems from a long-term vision initiated in 2017 with the launch of the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. That year also saw the UAE appoint the world’s first Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence.
The AI system will deliver strategic consultations, generate real-time knowledge reports, and conduct predictive modelling to simulate policy impacts prior to implementation. It will also benchmark proposed decisions against global best practices and provide comprehensive analytical support during meetings.
The AI advisory member will access structured learning from internal sources such as federal legislation, strategies, executive regulations, and previous Cabinet submissions, in addition to national databases and verified international resources.
