
UNESCO has designated Kashan, Iran, as a City of Architecture within its Creative Cities Network. The announcement was made on World Cities Day 2025 during the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Home to more than 1,700 historic sites, including 330 national monuments and one UNESCO World Heritage site, the city showcases the elegance of traditional Iranian architecture, according to
IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The UNESCO Creative Cities Network brings together over 300 cities worldwide, spanning fields from architecture and crafts to literature, music and gastronomy. It aims to promote creativity as a driving force for sustainable urban development.
The media outlet highlighted that joining the global network opens new opportunities for international cooperation, cultural investment and the revival of authentic Iranian architecture within a modern context.
