Universities of Iran and Tatarstan sign co-operation agreements

The documents cover agriculture, medicine and other fields

Universities of Iran and one of the Russian regions, the Republic of Tatarstan, have signed 12 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to deepen scientific co-operation, said Ilsur Khadiullin, head of Tatarstan’s Ministry of Education.

The documents cover such areas as agriculture, medicine, space technology and sports. Ilsur Khadiullin noted that more than 1840 Iranian students study in Tatarstan. This is reported by Tehran Times.

On 14 February, the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov headed a delegation of ministers and businessmen of 50 people visited Iran.

About 100,000 foreign nationals are currently studying in Iran. According to Mohammad Javad Salmanpour, deputy head of the Iranian Student Affairs Organisation of Iran, the country is among 15 countries that have succeeded in attracting students from abroad. “We have the ability and capacity to have more than 250,000 foreign students by 2026,” he stated.
