The governments of Venezuela and South Africa are exploring opportunities to expand cooperation and strengthen strategic relations between the two countries. This is reported by

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil had a telephone conversation with South African Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation Ronald Lamola. He specified in his microblog that the purpose of the contact was to review the bilateral agenda.

“We also discussed the benefits that BRICS will gain with Venezuela’s accession,” Gil added.

During his participation in the plenary session of the BRICS Expanded Meeting of Foreign Ministers, held in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod, the Venezuelan diplomat confirmed that the South American country hopes to join the association.
