Venezuela joins Belt and Road Film Festival Alliance

Agreement signed in Shanghai with the presence of cultural representatives from both nations

During the 27th edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival, Venezuela officially became the 50th member of the International Alliance of Film Festivals “The Belt and Road”.

The integration was formalised through the signing of a memorandum between Venezuela’s National Cinematheque Foundation and the Festival Alliance, marking a turning point for the global promotion of Venezuelan cinema, according to
Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), a partner of TV BRICS.

The agreement aims to promote artistic and cultural expressions through cinema, and Venezuela’s inclusion reinforces the joint commitment to building strong ties among member states through cinematic and cultural dialogue.

The formal signing ceremony took place in Shanghai and was attended by cultural figures from both countries. Representing Venezuela were Sergio Arria, Vice Minister for Audiovisual Culture, and Atilio Villasmil, Consul General in Shanghai, among others. On the Chinese side, senior officials from the communications sector and the Communist Party were present.
