Venezuela offers 100,000 hectares for Vietnamese agricultural investment
Venezuelan Minister of Electrical Energy pledged to personally oversee and assist in the implementation of joint projects
Venezuela has expressed full support for Vietnamese businesses looking to invest in its agricultural sector, with Venezuelan Minister of Electrical Energy, Jorge Marquez, offering to accompany enterprises in their investment endeavours. This is reported by
Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS.
During a meeting with the Vietnamese delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment attending the first AgroAlba 2025 Expo, Marquez highlighted that Venezuela has prepared 100,000 hectares of agricultural land for Vietnamese investors and pledged to personally oversee and assist in the implementation of joint projects.
With over 30 million hectares of cultivated land in Venezuela, only about 4 million are currently used for agricultural production. The Venezuelan Government has plans to allocate 3.3 million hectares for crop cultivation and 13.7 million for livestock farming under agricultural cooperation projects within the framework of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), in which Vietnam is a priority partner.
During their working visit from 5 to 9 of June, the Vietnamese delegation, led by Professor Nguyen Hong Son, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), held meetings with various Venezuelan officials. The delegation also visited Guárico state, a key agricultural region in Venezuela, to explore potential areas for collaboration.
Governor of Guárico state, Donald Donaire, expressed confidence that the renewed cooperation between Guаrico state and Vietnamese partners would open up new opportunities in agricultural relations.
