
Vietnamese swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang has become Vietnam’s first Asian swimming champion after winning the gold medal in the men’s 1,500m freestyle with a time of 15:15.01 at the 11th Asian Swimming Championships held in India.
The Vietnamese delegation also celebrated further notable successes. In the men’s 400m individual medley, Tran Hung Nguyen claimed the silver medal with 4:20.30, finishing just behind China’s Yichen Xie (4:19.34), according to
VNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
Meanwhile, Vo Thi My Tien secured her second medal of the championships, taking bronze in the women’s 400m individual medley with a time of 4:49.81. Earlier, on the opening day, she had also won silver in the women’s 200m freestyle final, clocking 2:01.95.
The 11th Asian Swimming Championships, held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, brings together the continent’s top athletes in disciplines such as swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming and open water events, consolidating its place as one of Asia’s most prestigious aquatic competitions.
