Vietnam has officially inaugurated the 2025 Asian Muaythai Championship in Thai Nguyen province, marking the first time the country hosts the continental martial arts event. This is reported by

The competition, which runs from 21 to 26 June, is co-organised by the Sports Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee.
The opening ceremony brought together national and international sports leaders, including the President of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations, Sakchye Tapsuwan, and Tan Chee Long, Secretary-General of the Asian Muaythai Federation.
This year’s tournament features over 300 participants, including coaches, referees, and athletes representing 18 countries and territories. Competitions are held across 28 combat weight classes and eight performance divisions. The host nation fields a 50-member team, with six athletes hailing directly from Thai Nguyen.
Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, described the event as a milestone in Vietnam’s sports diplomacy, offering a platform for cultural exchange and regional unity. He also emphasised the opportunity for Thai Nguyen to showcase its people, culture, and natural beauty, while strengthening its capacity to host major international sporting events.
