Vietnam leads Asia–Pacific in international tourism growth in Q1 2025
Vietnam demonstrated the highest growth in international tourist arrivals in the Asia-Pacific region in the first three months of 2025. This is reported by
Vietnam News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Compared to the same period in 2024, the influx of foreign tourists to Vietnam increased by 30 per cent, securing the country’s first place in the region. In addition, in terms of recovery to pre-pandemic 2019 levels, Vietnam ranked second, increasing the indicator by 34 per cent.
Globally, Vietnam ranked sixth in the world in terms of international tourism growth and fourth in terms of industry revenue growth, up 29 per cent from the first quarter of last year.
UN Tourism experts note that amid ongoing challenges and slow recovery in Asia, Vietnam has become a shining example of the tourism industry’s successful return to active development.
Overall, according to the report, in the first quarter of 2025, there were more than 300 million international tourist arrivals worldwide, which is 14 million more than a year earlier. This corresponds to a 5 per cent increase compared to 2024 and exceeds the pre-crisis 2019 figures by 3 per cent.
In terms of recovery to 2019 levels, the Middle East ranks first, reaching 144 per cent of pre-pandemic levels. The Asia-Pacific region reached 91 per cent, continuing its steady recovery.
