Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi have agreed to deepen cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas and exchanged views on international issues during a meeting in Cairo, where the Chinese leader arrived on a state visit. The sides signed a declaration on further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as more than 20 cooperation documents covering the digital economy, science and technology, education, transport and other areas. In particular, the heads of state agreed to expand their partnership in manufacturing and logistics chains, artificial intelligence development, trade and the economy.
Xi Jinping’s visit to Cairo is timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. In his conversation with Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Chinese President noted that in 1956, Egypt became the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. According to Xi, over the past 70 years, Chinese-Egyptian relations have developed and strengthened distinctive characteristics, including equality and mutual trust, friendship and mutual enrichment, solidarity and joint efforts, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
El-Sisi said that Egypt warmly welcomes President Xi Jinping’s historic state visit to Cairo. According to the Egyptian leader, the Arab Republic is ready to expand cooperation in trade and investment, manufacturing, infrastructure, finance, science and technology, new energy and other areas for the prosperity of both countries.
