China has appointed Xu Feihong, a senior diplomat, as its new ambassador to India

Senior diplomat Xu Feihong has been named by Chinese President Xi Jinping as the country’s new ambassador to India. This was reported by
The Hindu.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has verified that Xu Feihong, a former ambassador to Afghanistan and Romania, has been named China’s new envoy to India, even though there hasn’t been an official announcement made in Beijing yet.

Xu Feihong, sixty, is scheduled to start his new position in New Delhi shortly.

He will succeed Sun Weidong who completed his tenure in India in October 2022. Prior to his time in India, Sun Weidong served as China’s ambassador to Pakistan. He is currently China’s vice minister of foreign affairs and is in charge of the country’s South Asia policy.
