Chinese President Xi Jinping received Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin in Beijing, according to the official
website of the the Russin State Duma of the Federal Assembly.
Volodin informed the Chinese leader about the meeting of the interparliamentary commission on cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People’s Congress (NPC) taking place in the Chinese capital.

At the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation between the countries in the fields of economics, tourism, culture, education and science. Starting in September, monthly joint meetings of the State Duma and NPC Standing Committee’s international affairs committees are expected to take place.
During meeting with Volodin, the President of the People’s Republic of China emphasised that relations between Moscow and Beijing remain the most stable and mature among the major powers in the modern world. His words were reported by the

He also highly appreciated the cooperation between the parliaments of the Russian Federation and the PRC, noting that it is an integral part of the comprehensive strategic partnership. The head of state expressed hope for an active exchange of experience in the field of lawmaking.

Volodin conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Xi Jinping. The Russian Head of state will travel to China at the end of this week for a four-day visit, where talks between delegations from the two countries are planned. Putin will also take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin.
