Zimbabwe’s gold production surges 23% in August 2025

Zimbabwe’s gold production has surged by 23 per cent year-on-year, reaching 4,189 tonnes in August 2025, up from 3,418 tonnes in the same period last year.

This growth is largely attributed to the dominance of artisanal and small-scale miners, who delivered 3,249 tonnes, marking a 36 per cent increase compared to the previous year.

Artisanal and small-scale miners now account for nearly 78 per cent of the country’s total gold output, as reported by
The Herald, a partner of TV BRICS. Primary producers contributed 939 tonnes in August, a decline of 8.5 per cent from the previous year.

The surge in gold production continues a positive trend. Over the first eight months of 2025, total gold production reached 28,498 tonnes, compared to 20,103 tonnes during the same period in 2024. With this momentum, Zimbabwe is on track to exceed its full-year target of 40 tonnes.
