Indonesia intends to expand cooperation with China in higher education and science to accelerate the adoption of new technologies. This was stated by Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto at the China-Southeast Asia Forum on Higher Education and Industry Cooperation in Bali, as reported by ANTARA.
According to the minister, Indonesian universities and research organisations will be able to deepen their ties with Tsinghua University. Areas of cooperation include joint research, student and academic staff exchanges, and talent development, as well as educational and research programmes.
Yuliarto noted that cooperation between universities and industry would help align research with practical needs and accelerate its application in real-world projects. At the same time, it would help prepare specialists with the skills required to work with modern technologies.
The Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center in Bali, which was launched in 2022, plays an important role in this process. It brings together representatives of universities, government and business and serves as a platform for academic exchanges, talent development and joint projects.
Indonesia expects the development of such ties to contribute to the country’s scientific and technological progress while also strengthening cooperation with China and other countries in the region.
