Investment in the Belarusian economy grew by 3.1 per cent on a like-for-like basis over the first eight months of 2026. This was announced by the country’s First Deputy Minister of Economy, Ivan Vezhnovets, according to
BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.
Investment in machinery, equipment and intellectual property saw the strongest growth. Investment in machinery and equipment was 5.8 per cent higher than a year ago. Investment in intellectual property – know-how and research and development – rose by more than 6 per cent.
The First Deputy Minister identified the manufacturing sector and agriculture as priority areas. “We are investing specifically in the manufacturing sector, where there is a return for the real economy,” said Ivan Vezhnovets.
According to him, a record is being kept of the most significant investment projects, of which there are now more than 900. The majority are being implemented as part of regional initiatives – tools created by the state to support investment activity.
Some do this through investment projects – buying equipment and constructing buildings – whilst others develop new products and brands. Another important area is investment in research and development.
This relates either to the technology cycle or to new products and know-how. He also highlighted the importance of investing in operational efficiency – lean manufacturing and staff assessment. This requires lower costs but yields significant results in specific cases.
It was previously reported that Belarusian food exports could reach a record US$11 billion in 2026.
