International Film Festival “Crossroads of Civilisations” showcases films from BRICS countries and Latin America

The International Film Festival “Crossroads of Civilisations” will take place in Cherkessk (Karachay-Cherkessia, Russia) from 22 to 25 October 2026. Russian and international writers, directors, producers and rights holders of feature-length and short fiction films, documentaries and animated films are invited to take part. TV BRICS is the event’s international media partner.

Films are accepted in four categories: feature-length fiction films, short fiction films, documentary films (non-fiction films exploring culture, ethnography and the strength of the human spirit) and animated films.

The festival’s longlist comprises 96 films. The best films will be eligible for broadcast on TV BRICS – this is a special prize awarded by the media network.

In addition, TV BRICS is organising a special screening at the festival of five films from the media network’s partners: “My Sister Clara” (Brazil), “Charming Beijing!” (Russia–China), “Day of the Dead: Culture and Loyalty to Tradition” (Venezuela), “Guardians of Caribbean Traditions” (Cuba) and “The Laughing Banana” (Iran).

The media network will also present the documentary “Earth. Lifelines”. It will be presented by Aleksandra Borisova, creator of TV BRICS documentary projects.

The festival programme includes competitive and non-competitive screenings, opening and closing ceremonies, creative meetings with directors and actors, masterclasses, round-table discussions and seminars featuring leading figures from the worlds of film and culture.

A separate focus will be on the presentation of film locations in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and the pitching of film projects aimed at developing film production and promoting the region as a promising filming location.

The festival is a cultural project aimed at fostering international dialogue through the art of cinema and strengthening humanitarian ties between nations.
