African countries present 15 new energy projects at forum in South Africa

Fifteen energy projects were presented to potential investors at African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town. The TV BRICS International Media Network acted as the event’s information partner. The proposals cover oil and gas exploration and production, the development of energy infrastructure and the construction of power stations.

Among the initiatives are plans to increase oil production in South Africa from 30,000 to 80,000 barrels per day by 2029 and the development of a heavy oil production project in East Africa. In Central Africa, investors were offered an offshore oil field where tests on two wells showed a flow rate of up to 1,600 barrels per day.

The event also featured a presentation on an offshore gas condensate field project in South Africa and plans to develop new oil production blocks. Some proposals include the expansion of a liquefied petroleum gas storage terminal and the construction of a 180-megawatt gas-fired power station in West Africa.

Following the forum, countries also presented new opportunities for geological exploration: Liberia offered investors 15 oil and gas blocks, Senegal 104 blocks, and Algeria seven blocks.

After five days of African Energy Week, the total value of investment commitments exceeded US$17 billion. African Energy Week took place from 12 to 16 October 2026 and brought together more than 12,000 participants, including representatives from governments, energy companies, financial institutions and technology providers.
