Bandile Hadebe: BRICS is a rising economic powerhouse with global influence

According to the speaker, BRICS walk into G20 with a very strong stance and a very strong message that it’s as relevant and as equal as partners

In the run-up to the G20 summit, the International Media Network TV BRICS and its partners in BRICS conducted a series of interviews with leading experts from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. TV BRICS is an officially accredited media outlet of the G20 summit in New Delhi.

Bandile Hadebe, President of Professionals’ League, Director, Planning and Foresight at Presidential National Commission on Information Society, South Africa, spoke about the newfound economic strength of BRICS nations and the pivotal role they play in global negotiations.

“The economic power that now sits within BRICS puts our countries in a better footing when negotiating globally. So we walk into that G20 with a very strong stance and a very strong message that we are just as relevant and equal as partners”

The President of Professionals’ League also emphasised the importance of conversation around innovation and healthcare as it helps to increase access to health services.

“We are grappling with a national discussion in South Africa around the national Health insurance and how we are going to fund the healthcare. That healthcare conversation, but also the innovation in healthcare for me is very important because we really need to advance the digital transformation in healthcare. And I think healthcare as a sector, as an industry has really lagged behind in terms of adopting the necessary technologies that are going to advance the delivery of quality healthcare, delivery of increasing access and reducing costs to healthcare” added Bandile.

A special media project of the BRICS & G20 International Network is a series of videos and exclusive interviews with leading experts from the BRICS and G20 summits.

As part of the BRICS & G20 project, all materials are published in Russian, English, Chinese and Portuguese and placed on TV BRICS’ own platforms, as well as on the sites of TV BRICS network media partners in national languages.

An exclusive commentary is provided by BRICS Africa Channel, a partner of TV BRICS.
