Russian experts share their views on the upcoming G20 summit

The G20 Summit in New Delhi is the main event of 2023 in the group’s activities

In the run-up to the G20 summit, the International Media Network TV BRICS and its partners – the BRICS media – conducted a series of interviews with leading experts from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. TV BRICS is an officially accredited media outlet of the G20 Summit in New Delhi.

Vitaly Mankevich, President of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, spoke about the prospects of the BRICS association and its interaction with the G20.

“I think that BRICS will integrate organically enough into the G20, and maybe even drag the entire G20 to its platform. This is favourable for all parties – the more participants, the more opportunities for cooperation. Russia is interested in multilateral economic cooperation, bilateral cooperation with various countries, energy, and, of course, technology transfer may also be discussed. It is very important for us to come to some common ground as far as mutual trade is concerned,” said the expert.

“I believe that BRICS plays quite a significant role on the world stage. And as you can see, BRICS is expanding. I think that the founding countries of the “five” will also look for their positive sides for cooperation in this format”

In his turn, Alexey Kupriyanov, PhD in History, Head of the Indo-Pacific Region centre of IMEMO E. M. Primakov, noted that the G20 is a unique format for India.

“This is a format that brings together both BRICS members and G7 members, as well as those countries that are not members of any of the above-mentioned associations. So this is an opportunity for India to assert itself as a responsible global power. The Indians have been preparing for the summit for a year, and they have taken the preparations extremely seriously. I have observed some stages of preparation – the Indian side has involved economists, political scientists, representatives of civil society, diplomats. That is, the Indians are doing everything to ensure that this summit is held at a high level”

The G20 summit in New Delhi will be the main event of 2023 in the group’s activities and will also mark the final stage of the rotating presidency of the bloc, currently held by India, which will be taken over by the Brazilian government on 1 December.

A special media project of the BRICS & G20 International Network is a series of videos and exclusive interviews with leading experts from the BRICS and G20 summits.

As part of the BRICS & G20 project, all materials are published in Russian, English, Chinese and Portuguese and placed on TV BRICS’ own platforms, as well as on the sites of TV BRICS network media partners in national languages.
