Egypt and Tunisia discuss co-operation in the health sector

The meeting between the two countries discussed achieving integration in the field of pharmaceutical industry

Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Tunisian Ambassador to Egypt Mohamed bin Yousef to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the health sector.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the Tunisian ambassador praised the close relations between the two countries in all fields.

He also said that the diplomat extended an official invitation to the Egyptian minister to pay a working visit to Tunisia.

Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting discussed the exchange of experience in the field of medical tourism, as Tunisia is one of the leading countries in providing the latest techniques of sea water treatment. He said Tunisia has more than 50 hospitals and centres for this purpose and receives patients from Europe and Germany.

The Tunisian ambassador said that his country will provide Egypt with all data on hospitalisation and seawater treatment centres.

Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting also discussed enhancing cooperation between the two sides to achieve integration in the pharmaceutical industry. The aim is to open joint markets in Africa and Francophone countries, increase technology exchange and supply medicines on a large scale.

He added that the Minister of Health has instructed the revision of the memoranda of understanding signed in this regard and the reactivation of the joint technical committee to achieve the objectives of co-operation. This is reported by
